The Challenge

No one had ever produced a UK Sneaker of the Year.

Not formally. Not with production value. Not in a way that reflected how different UK sneaker culture is from the US, different brands, different communities, different tastes, different reference points.

Tosh Kicks had the vision. He could see the gap. He knew it needed to exist. But having an idea and knowing how to turn it into a piece of content that performs at the level the idea deserved are two completely different things.

He needed a production partner who could think about format, execution, and release strategy, not just an editor who could cut the footage.

The Solution

Don't make a YouTube video. Make an event.

We came in at the concept stage and stayed through post-release, developing the panel show format, structuring and building a three-phase release strategy before a camera was booked.

When the original studio confirmed a water leak two days before the main shoot, we sourced a new venue and redesigned the set in 48 hours. Production day went ahead as scheduled.

The response gave the format enough momentum to continue beyond its first release. That's the result that matters most — not just the views, but proof that the concept has legs.

Why It Worked

Three decisions that turned a debut into a cultural moment.

01

The format was right for the moment.

The UK sneaker community had never had its own annual panel show. No one had claimed that space. When you're first to do something that genuinely needed to exist, the format gives people a reason to care, debate, and share. A generic sneaker video competes with thousands of others. A definitive UK panel show competes with nothing.

02

Production quality signalled legitimacy instantly.

The 3D title sequence, individual panel intros, lower thirds, and grade aren't decoration — they're credibility signalling. In the first 90 seconds the audience decides whether this is worth their time. Every production choice communicated: this was made properly, this is serious, this deserves your attention. UK sneaker culture is visually literate. They know the difference between a well-made show and someone pointing a camera at a conversation.

03

The release was built like a drop, not an upload.

Five days of panellist trailers and poster drops before the show aired meant that by December 27th, the audience wasn't discovering the panel — they were already invested in it. They had preferences, opinions, and they had been waiting. That pre-existing investment drove viewership and watch time on a 1 hour 26-minute show. People don't finish long videos by accident. They finish them because they care about the outcome before they press play.

Client Feedback

Working with PodEdit Studios on UK Sneaker of the Year was a great experience. They understood the vision from day one and brought a real level of professionalism, creativity, and care to the project. The team handled the production brilliantly. Everything on set felt organised and smooth, and they made sure the final result felt polished, authentic, and true to the culture we were representing. I'd recommend PodEdit Studios to anyone looking for a production team that understands both creative storytelling and professional execution.
